I did write what turned out to be a two-part school spanking story some years ago, told from the point of view of one of the recipients. It wasn't bad, I thought, until I realized it just didn't sound like it was coming from the mind of a teenaged girl, so I set it aside for a re-write, which I never quite got to. It's around somewhere, though I can't find it just now; I'm thinking it doesn't really matter if I don't locate it, since I'd basically need to redo the whole thing. Not sure I'll get back to it, as I've started a new one after all this time, and am compiling notes for others as ideas come to me. So, yes, I'd say it's perfectly okay to abandon a story.
