rollin:
how does a mainstream work treat consensual spanking/DD/BDSM relationships. Does it label such as "sick" or "violent" or "misogynistic" or does it accept that two people can enter into such a thing and be happy with it?
In part 2 the female protagonist is willing to compromise with his interest because she loves him unconditionally and he admitted to loving her too...She is however i disturbed to learn.... MAJOR PLOT SPOILER WARNING: that the male protagonist wants to punish women who look like his drug addicted prostitute mother who neglected him and failed to protect him when he was abused by her pimp. He has many psychological issues to deal with and he uses BDSM as a coping mechanism.
Ana herself is turned on by spanking play and bondage, which surprises her... it is purely her fear caused by his admission of being a total sadist that troubles her.. but still she wants to go back to the "red room of pain".
These books are definitely aimed at females who enjoy the stereotypical chick flick or bodice ripper (okay that's me) and the fact it has some spanking in it is an added bonus in mainstream fiction... that's my humble opinion anyway. Sure it isn't hard core... but hardcore/ abusive spankings doesn't make for relaxing reading (for me anyway)
