Pink's contributions at the LSF are varied and significant. With everything else she did, it's easy to forget that she was a prolific author, entertaining us with her stories.
Those validations, though - 7,000 of them - are simply amazing. We've acknowledged the few members (several times) who are approaching 6,000 comments made It takes far more time to read and validate a story than to read and comment. In her four years of activity here, she averaged about 5 validations each day, and likely several times that during the first year the library was in operation. Again, simply amazing productivity.
Then there was her role as assistant librarian - all the behind-the-scenes stuff that I can't even describe because I don't know what it is. I just know that there was a ot of effort there, particularly the couple times flopsy was incapacitated, and yet things just carried on smoothly.
And, of course, there was her presence on the Forum - 1,858 posts worth, approximately 1,851 of them in dubious battle with the blimpster. Well all know she isn't really the character she portrayed herself to be... or is she?
Author, validater, assistant librarian, character - yes, she fulfilled all of these roles for the LSF, but for many member here there was (IS) a more important one - that of friend.
Is it a tragedy that she's leaving us (as has been suggested)? It's true that things here will never quite be the same without her. But we do Pink (or any of the members) a disservice is we consider the LSF the whole, or even the primary part, of their lives. Pink seemingly is moving on to a new exciting chapter of her life, something we should celebrate, not bemoan.
Now, if she has merely feigned her departure to get people (and maybe even blimp) to say nice things about her, then when she next shows her face, or rather her butt around here, I'll have a big paddle with her name on it ready to be employed. If she really has headed on down that trail of empty crisp packets, then I wish her all the best.
