In the past we have recommended the use of the Puffin browser for those users of the site whose web browsers are unable to scroll within the LSF story viewer. These are typically android or iOS based browsers. Unfortunately, it appears that this browser is now rendering web pages via Puffin USA based cloud servers. This has the effect of masking your ip address and one of the conditions for use of the LSF is that your ip address is not obfuscated as this keeps attempts by spammers to infiltrate the site down to a minimum. I've no idea whether this cloud server feature can be disabled as I'm not a user of Puffin myself.

Hi Februs. I use Puffin from my ipad to read on LSF. Do i have to start using another browser now? I'm not sure what it is you want me to do.

Well I don't know when they changed the way the browser works but the latest version isn't going to work on the site for the reasons I outlined. It's not likely to be any time soon but maybe I can investigate providing an alternative means of scrolling for those people using browsers that don't handle it correctly.

I find the site is "usable" with the most recent versions of the chrome browser on android, but some extra effort is required, which I'll explain below.

Chrome has issues with scrolling inside the popup frames that appear for reading stories, viewing comments, or reading messages.

For instance, if you open a story, you may find you cannot scroll it down. However, you *can* use the buttons which adjust the text size and background color, and once you do that once, voila! The story is now scrollable!

Likewise for story comments (I click on a commentators name, as if to respond), and messages (click on any message to enlarge it).

I just decided to give Firefox on android another try with LSF, and so far it is working flawlessly (which is a change, because it didn't used to). So that is another option, maybe.

I use puffin too. It was the only browser i found that worked. I also find that it's much easier to use my ipad instead of a computer. I may have to try firefox again.

If I use a browser other than Puffin on an iPad, I get a message telling me to use Puffin!

That's right because until very recently Puffin worked well or as well as the iPad would let it. But for some strange reason the most recent version of Puffin uses its own servers to render web pages which means your ip address is shown as that of the Puffin developers rather than your own.

It appears from Jefesse's useful feedback that Android users should use the latest version of Firefox. As for iPad users well we don't have an answer at present, apart from suggesting that the shiny toy company get its act together, a message I'm sure they have no interest in hearing.

I use Chrome although I tend to like IE for most things. Sorry for saying the two-letter swear word Februs but it is still my favorite browser.

I do not use 'Apple' for anything as I find I cannot consent to the controls and info Apple applies to all their programs, games etc. Just like spankings, I want to consent to things before they happen and iPad's etc do not give one much choice about anything. Getting a message to use Puffin on your iPad which you own is just sick, next thing one knows Apple will insist on it, and then what does one do?

I have no idea what anyone is saying with regard to Puffin. I use firefox and sometimes Google Chrome and everything is fine. It all works. I even use IE 8 as well but the other two are better.
