Me too. I have mine done, but it involves hearing through a door rather than peeking through one. (In most houses there aren't see-through keyholes anymore. The last time I lived in a house with open hole locks for skeleton keys was back in the 1960's.) Besides, didn't flopsy say the theme was to be inspirational rather than literal?

The keyhole reference is merely a creative means of conveying a spanking which has been observed in clandestine circumstances, it's not meant to be taken literally as being a description provided by someone looking through an actual keyhole, although that is certainly one way of approaching it. It's basically someone witnessing a spanking without the main protagonists being aware of it.

I understand the 'keyhole' as a symbolic theme, but I think several of us are just curious as to whether it has to be "seeing". Does hearing one count? Would that still count as 'witnessing'? (Personally, I sure hope so).

Does hearing one count?

The question has been adked. Twice. No one has said you CAN'T have a character witness the event in that manner. So, it appears that the only rule you're breaking is giving clues to potential readers as to which story is yours. I promise to ignore this clue so long as everyone else does.

Fair enough rick, but I think anyone reading this thread would be able to spot my writing style in a few sentences even without 'clues'. As for being a 'rule-breaker'....that is a reputation I have not only here but at home. Where do you think all those spanking ideas come from?

Just to note that this challenges is a bit different from most others with a picture. When we had a picture of a wooden cabin in snowbound forest, or of a small rowing-boat moored on a tranquil lake in hilly country with ducks and a swan behind it, or an impressively bound will, it seemed appropriate to reproduce the picture in the story. As a reader I marked down stories that seemed only vaguely connected to the picture.

I noted from the instructions that this would not necessarily be so with the present challenge - which is just as well, because sticking to the picture (you know what I mean) would have dictated that the spankee was a white female with navy-blue knickers and the implement used was a cane. I'm actually slightly disappointed it's been extended so wide that the keyhole is not a necessary element, as this sort of requirement is part of the challenge to be met.

To return to the length limitation for a moment: it may be that authors prevented from writing longer stories may instead write more stories, giving the readers the same amount to plough through!

the keyhole is not a necessary element,

It is not a realistic element, especiall due to the abundant lack of keyholes in modern doors haha! Also, heaps of stories involving the caning of a white female, in blue panties, observed through a keyhole, would get horrendously repetitive if everyone stuck to reproducing exactly what is in the picture. I say let those imaginations run riot everyone!!!!!!

My understanding is that this is not a picture challenge, but rather a story challenge which happens to come with a nice illustration along with its description. And if you tell me different I'll ignore you, cause I've already started on my story

The above is absolutely right. I'm sure I've mentioned this somewhere else on the forum but the Challenges alternate between photo challenges, in which the idea is to write a story based on the picture, and 'something different'. So far, the 'something different' category has included: 'summer vacation theme', '500 word challenge', 'poetry challenge', 'letter challenge' and currently the 'keyhole challenge'. We do show a picture for these challenges too but they are not intended to be the basis for what is written.

Looks like we could be in for a record number of entries here... currently standing at 62 (plus 1 waiting to be loaded) just 3 behind the 500 Word story challenge which managed 66.
