Author page comments tab

Have made a small change to the display of comments via the Comments tab on the author page. Originally the comments were displayed just as titles with the option to display the actual comments in full if you clicked the plus sign. This has now been discarded and they are displayed in full as standard. Also, previously only the last 40 were available for viewing but I have now paginated them allowing a maximum of the last 300 (15 x 20) to be viewed. In keeping with the Latest Commented and My Comments lists I'll be adding the option to separately display comments for Wellred Weekly articles loaded to the library (if applicable).

The wealth of comments us authors have been receiving has created one small problem that you might be able to help with: I'm having trouble keeping track of which comments I've replied to and which not. This leads to either un-replied comments (which I like to avoid) , or multiple replies to the same comment (which make me look like an idiot).

Would it be possible to have a "replied" check box? It needn't be automatic, though that would be sweet. It could just be something available for the author to use (or not) to keep track.

I think this is a great addition to the site. It makes it very easy for me to go back and look at any suggestions to add parts to any story or suggestions on how to improve stories without having to recall which comment was attached to which story.

That certainly sounds like a good idea.. but I'm not sure at present there's a straightforward way of doing it in that there is currently no association between comments and popup messages. I'll add it to the 'nice to have' list as at some point I may well restructure some of the database tables and it might then be easier to implement.

How about a Latest Comments with a Date? Maybe the author can punch in a date the same way as the Search, but for each author's works only. It will come up with a list of stories. Once they're clicked on they go away, or go away after an allotted amount of time.

I have emails that come to me from the LSF telling me which stories were commented on. I just look at them and find the stories. Most of you probably have the same, but I thought I'd mention that non-the-less...

I would tend to select this option. Could there be an 'idiot' button to make this easier?
