Dear Flopsy's endless work upon this board is really great -
She edits, fixes, writes and posts galore.
Without her firm cool touch the board's work starts to come in late...
Our spankos left and right get really sore!

Not "sore" as angry... flopsy would not ever cause dissent.
She brings together rather than divides.
But folks with naught to read, they bare their bums, are over bent,
As real spankings sought and found backside!

It must be nice to have a job that lets you go home at 2:30 and leave people hanging for information. I suggest we send in Miss Thrashbottom to straighten them out. In the meantime, my best wishes to Flopsy for a speedy and complete recovery.

I fear it would take a whole army of Miss Thrashbottoms to straighten out the NHS. All I had wanted to do was have a quick word with the consultant in charge of flopsy's care and this was the actual sequence of events:

Phoned the unit where flopsy has been admitted:

1. rang out, no answer

2. rang out, no answer

3. rang out, no answer

4. someone picked up phone and hung up before I could speak

5. rang out, no answer

Phoned the main hospital, asked to be put through to flopsy's unit

6. rang out, no answer

Phoned the unit where flopsy is again:

7. rang out, no answer

8. spoke to ward sister, got name of consultant. There is no phone number available for him, just his secretary.

Phoned secretary.

9. answer-phone message saying she goes home at 2:30pm. If urgent to contact secretary of another consultant.

Phoned other secretary.

10. answer-phone saying she goes home at 3pm.

I'm sure we could find plenty of volunteers at the library to help out Miss Thrashbottom, or perhaps we could have a bake sale and buy a robo spanker for the cause.

Poor Flopsy. I wish she has a prompt recovery.

Hi, Februs. Don't give up. Unfortunately there's only two ways to deal with bureaucrats: 1) patience or 2) shoot 'em. I don't recommend the second way. Please give us the news whenever you can.

Please pass on my get-well wishes, too. I hope it's nothing too serious and the doctors can cure it completely this time.

I'm afraid that trying to get any information from a hospital on phone would end the same way over here. They just expect you to go to the hospital and wait patiently until a doctor comes along and is willing to take a few minutes of his precious time. The service at hospital is anyway mostly so poor, that it is always advisable that relatives or friends have time to look after a patient.

I am so sad about Flopsy back in the hospital. I am assuming that it is the same condition that she had the first time in the hospital. Send her my regards and for a very speedy recovery.
Now, as far as the NHS is concerned; as bad as it is, at least you have a health service. A great many people in the USA have no insurance and can't get help with their health. To stay in the hospital, for one night, is a minimum of $3,000. Convert this into pounds. I could go on about this but many of our hospitals are not much better.
