The only Playboy spanking story I recall is one where the author was supposedly commissioned to do first hand research into women who place personal ads looking for bdsm partners. When he links up with an attractive woman who was looking to be spanked, she complains that he's spanking too hard. Then once he confessed that he's only doing research for an article, she tells him that SHE is only doing research of her own for a woman's magazine. They ditch the spanking in order to have sex.
Quite frankly, I found that ending a total letdown.
Ahhhh, I remember reading that story back then, I found it to be silly and unrealistic, with its implication that adults involved in consensual spanking activity were mostly (if not entirely) 'vanilla' undercover reporters. If that were so, how did a spankophile community come into existence to start with, at least prominently enough for investigative reporters being assigned to cover its activities?
For people attempting to pass themselves off as practicing spankophiles, both characters were quite inept at their supposed roles, thus obviously neither one had done any serious 'prep' for his/her assignment. That they found their spanking experience to be "boring," that was to be expected since they were both pure 'vanillas' with highly limited views of human sexuality.
The author was apparently pushing the notion that only 'vanilla' sex has human value, but to me the story simply showed that dishonest phonies attract each other...
