When I saw the story challenge picture, it reminded me of a story in which a girl was summoned at a Scottish notary's since she will inherit from an uncle.
But there is a condition: the recipient must accept to get a caning within the next few days. So she desperately tries to find someone who would agree to caning her and she has a hard time finding one in a strange town.
When she gets back to the notary, he insists on checking she has been well and truly caned.
In fact the notary was her late uncle's best friend and the proviso had been devised for the notary's pleasure.
