Rose is stressed about the approaching coming-out ball where her daughter will make her debut. Stress leads to increasingly erratic behaviour and she throws a figurine at her husband Michael, the Duke of Westfield. Sent to her room to wait and prepare for him, she knows full well she has earned herself a spanking. Dismissing the maid, Michael soon has his wife over his knee. He scolds her as he spanks, neither of them knowing that their secret longings are the same. Somehow they have never shared their needs, and so after the spanking Rose cries alone in her bed, longing for him to hold her. Michael goes for a ride on his favourite stallion but finds his thoughts remain with Rose. She is a good wife and a good mother and he does love her, doesn't he? That night as they entertain for dinner, he finds himself looking at Rose and even blowing her a kiss as he notices her squirming on her chair. The ball is a wonderful success and Michael and Rose become much closer as they dance together and finally start to realise how they really feel about each other. Their relationship escalates to an entirely new level and at last Rose hears the words she has longed to hear from him...
