You're right, it wasn't 'The Love Boat'...it was 'Love American Style'.

I remembered it straight away this morning...isn't passive thinking a wonderful thing?

The trouble with bending over the back of the sofa to look for all the things lost down there is that someone might come up and make entirely the wrong assumption about your position

Thank you! That's just what I couldn't find.

Happy to help.
But did you look down the back of the sofa, if things are missing they often can be found there

Or underneath the dresser...

Wow, having watched "The Love Boat" as a teen I was a bit shocked that they'd stuck a line like that in the script. But "Love American Style" makes perfect sense; for the time it was somewhat of a risque prime time show.

Ah, the 70s...

A time when you could crack a joke about a 14 year old (well, 13 and three quarters) dressing older and attracting a girl in his 20s before panicking over him probably wanting sex.... then make a joke about her getting a spanking....

I can't see either joke working today.

Here's another old joke that couldn't be told today - but I can remember laughing as a stand up comedian told it on a televised show:
Don't drink and drive. Seriously, you could hit a pothole and spill half your flask. Pull over to the side of the road, take a drink, make sure the cap's on tight, then drive.
