Such a simple, yet great question.
I have loved spanking since at least my early teens. When was that? Well, suffice to say, I also loved Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, and Green Acres (and I Dream of Jeannie, though for different reasons than the 3 aforementioned shows). I don't regret having a spanking fetish now, especially since there is so much information and community now associated with our fetish. I even hesitate to consider it a "fetish"; it seems to get more common every day. Sites like the LSF make it seem as if you aren't one of the "cool" folks unless you either have a "hot" behind, or want to give someone else one.
Back in my teens though, I think I did regret having a spanking fetish. There just wasn't enough information available to a teen - or maybe even to an adult - about spanking, other than its use as a parental disciplinary tool. There were some off color, hard-to-find magazines, stories and books on the topic, almost all of them S&M related, with spanking as part of their topics. Always delivered to your house in a "plain, brown wrapper." How was a teenage boy able to make sense of his love of spanking, or even communicate it to anyone else, when it had to be covered up, literally and figuratively, in a plain brown wrapper?
Very gradually, though - partially because I grew up a bit, and partially because I began to care less about what other people thought (and, later on, with a big assist from Al Gore's internet), I stopped regretting having the fetish, and began to enjoy having the fetish. I still stood apart from the majority of people, but that was ok. And as I got more information about spanking, and it became apparent that there were many more spanking enthusiasts than previously thought, that was even more ok. Kinda like I was right all along, even when I didn't have a clue what I was right about. |
