Februs:
Burgundy:
...she flew at him with her fists, landing punches randomly all over his body.

Burgundy:
..."Mmph," he grunted once when her right fist hit him on his ear, and covered his face with his arms after that.

Burgundy:
...In a few instances, the [coat] hanger accidentally landed on his lower back or against the side of his hip instead of on his ass

Burgundy:
...The damage was ghastly. Her mouth dropped open and she squeaked in distress at the sight of him.

Burgundy:
..."I just hope I'll be able to walk without limping tomorrow," he added dolefully

Burgundy:
..."You were really trying hard to cripple me for life." He rubbed the welts on his lower back

Burgundy:
...She hoped she hadn't seriously injured him, and felt suddenly worried for him. All kinds of delicate organs sat right underneath the skin in the lower back, where she had accidentally struck him several times.

Burgundy:
..."Maybe you should see a doctor," she said. "Maybe you have internal bleeding or something."

Burgundy:
...He couldn't see a doctor looking like that, covered in bruises from an evidently vicious beating.

Well, together these pieces almost make up an entry as they are, so I'll just grade the story here instead. I'd give it a ten for blood and gore, but sadly a zero for lack of actual spanking. But if a leg is ripped off and someone is spanked with it, I'll give it a solid six for innovative spanking implement, ending with a quite good eight as average score.

Not to change the subject too abruptly, but there are some very well-written stories in this challenge. I've been particularly impressed with several, I think, more than usual.

Specifically, I felt like some of the stories captured the morally untenable position of a person trying to take revenge. I think some writers missed this distinction, and confused punishment with revenge, which are moral opposites to my mind. I had trouble thinking up anything good for this one, just because of that distinction: it's hard to develop any sympathy for either side, when each is as bad as the other.

Anyway, there's some good writing out there.

I'll say, I did think of a really fun revenge story, too late as usual...maybe I'll send that in after awhile.

confused punishment with revenge,

Yes, I've noticed exactly that in a few entries.

I gently disagree. I have no problem developing sympathy for a person who has been truly wronged, and therefore takes appropriate, proportional (and hopefully) imaginative and well-planned revenge.

Gee whiz, I've missed out on all this hubbub. One thing that resonates with me is the remark about someone "being spanked to death." I don't particularly want to sound like Homer Simpson but ...
being spanked to death? Mmmmmm, such sweet sorrow. What a way to go.

Okay, levity switched off. Back to regular programming.

At least you didn't say, "death, where is thy sting?" because in this case we'd know exactly where the sting was.

Good one! And didn't Charon paddle people across the Styx to the underworld? Though I guess in this case they were already dead...

I haven't quite read all the challenge entries yet, but it's possible the 'spanked to death' scenario being referred to isn't quite how it sounds - there's a story in which the (until that point happy) spankee is accidentally asphyxiated by the over-enthusiastic spanker with a hand over her mouth.

I think maybe the Charon story was misrepresented? Perhaps he rowed the dead across the River Styx IF they had coins on their eyes.......BUT if they had no coins to offer, he paddled their butts across......perhaps while listening to Styx.

And yes, having hit them all, I believe the asphyxiation story is the one being referred to.

So, maybe you're right. After reading all, I found I scored two tens and two nines, which I've never done before (except with my own stories, which I can't fairly judge, and hey, someone needs to vote for them)

I had trouble coming up with plausible inspiration this time, but others did much better.

I'm sure I heard of the Rows of Charon somewhere, so I'm not sure that he does use a paddle. he might use one of his Styx though.
