What is "hardcore"?

One of my stories got a comment saying it was too hardcore for the reader, and it led me to wonder, what does "hardcore" mean in the context of this library? (I'm not complaining about the comment, and don't want to discuss whether or not they were right to label that story hardcore -- this is a more general question.) So...what makes a story here hardcore?

I dunno really, in my mind that means that it has a certain amount of rough sex attached to it. Could be that it refers to an excessive whipping, but I guess we should be open to all levels of spanking here. May I ask which story it was...? ...As I tend to like the 'harder' stories here...

I would guess along similar lines, and throw in the possibility of some form of control or dominance (actual or implied) over the spankee.

I received a similar comment on a recent story of mine where the wife rewards her husband for being a good boy lately by letting him rub himself against her leg while she spanks him. The spanking itself wasn't that ferocious but tying it as a requirement in order for him to be allowed to ejaculate was what connotated "hardcore" to that particular reader.

Well, during my relentless scanning of Tumblr for free spanking porn pics I've come across quite a few pages focusing on denial of orgasm. I seems to be a pretty big thing out there for many viewers, so I dunno if it really qualifies as hardcore in my world.

So, obviously on some websites, there are no limits and nothing is too hardcore (with often gruesome results). So what's too hardcore on *this* site?

Well, as an author who has had a rather impressive number of stories either rejected outright or sent back for extensive editing for being too hardcore, I believe I have some insight. (Note 1: I am NOT complaining about the rejections and edits. I understand why it happened and mostly agree. I only protested in one case, and in more lucid hindsight I see that I was wrong.)

In any case, here is what I have learned. (Note 2: ALL stories involved adults only.)

1. Blood resulting from the use of a spanking implement is too hardcore.

2. Ambiguously consensual sex is too hardcore. (If spankee is female. Mild sexual assault of male spankees is okay.)

3. Some forms of anal penetration are too hardcore.

4. Fighting the spanking tooth and nail, and being dragged to it kicking and screaming is too hardcore. (Spankee must be at least moderately cooperative. Example: female spankee attempting to kick male spanker in crotch in order to escape is not okay.)

5. Some implements are too hardcore. (Example: wooden clothes hanger.)

6. Some types of psychological abuse and subjugation are too hardcore. (Example: a great imbalance of intellect between spanker and spankee, or rather its implications, is not okay.)

7. Open enjoyment and arousal from causing suffering to the spankee is *sometimes* too hardcore. (If the spanker is female. Male spankers openly enjoying causing pain to a female spankee is okay.)

I'm sure I'm still missing a few, but that's my list so far.

I'm sorry, but this is just too good to let go. I totally understand what you mean by these, and I'm sure these are solid examples of prevailing sentiment, but I just have to have some fun with these!

As long as your stories are accepted by LSF then all is well.

I personally would never feel that a story was hardcore, i just focus on whether i enjoyed the story, and fact is some stories i have thought to be excellent, have been heavy on the discipline and control, likewise i have enjoyed many that were 'softer'.

I do tend to skirt the limits of the site a fair bit. All in the name of trying to write interesting new stories, and of course some of my interests don't quite line up with the bounds of the library.

And those three people can just go and stick it up their virgin tushies, can't they?


Let me add a corollary to that:
Speculation about the supposed sexual arousal of a female spanker by a male author is okay. Confirmed sexual arousal of female spanker by a female author is too hardcore. Unless the reader is into F/M, in which case the latter is also okay. Except for F/M readers whose tastes don't favour bdsm games. Unless...
