I know we have a story contest in progress right now at the voting stage, but thought I'd like to test the waters to gauge what the reaction would be if our next contest were to feature not stories, but rhymes about spanking? Would there be enough people be interested in having a go at writing something? Would there be enough people interested in reading the entries?

You don't have to be Poet laureate standard, but if you can come up with something in rhyme, serious or humorous, relating to the noble art of spanking, I think it would be great fun reading the output.

So, leaving aside things like length and metre and subject, do you think in general that spanking poetry/rhymes would be something that you would enjoy reading and/or writing?

Opinions welcome please.

Thanks, flopsy

Dunno at this stage blimp, though I expect many would be quite short. But there would be no point in going ahead with anything if only a handful of people were willing to participate.

I can`t write `em but I sure do enjoy reading `em. I`ve been mightily impressed by some of the poetry on offer here and a contest sounds like a great idea to me. If they were not overly long I`d be encouraged to read quite a few in one sitting and get my votes in quickly. Yes, go for it.

About the length of THE ILIAD would be pretty effective, I'm figuring... --C.K.

That's a bet you lose, blimp. Marlowe ain't a poet. If I scratch out one, that'd be a miracle.

Yep that'd work. About 8 letters. (you were just referring to the title, weren't you?)

Are you looking for poems or rhymes? There are things that rhyme that I wouldn't call poetry. And things I call poetry that don't rhyme. And, of course, sometimes you can get both in one.............but not often.

Hmmmmmmm. Let's see.

Mary had a little girl lamb
Whose skin was white as snow.
And every time Mary spanked her lamb
her butt was sure to glow.

Something like that Flopsy?

"Hmm...the next context hangs on rhyme!"
Said AussieSpanker. "What a shame!"
The Texan, laying down his missiles,
Penned several critical epistles.
HotScot, though, thought the notion good
And wrote a poem rather rude.

Yes, I'd be up for this one, and I think we should simply call it "verse", so it could be poetry or doggerel (or catterel), but to avoid arguments about disqualifications, require that the piece had some kind of rhymes in it, though not necessarily a set system like AABB or ABAB.
