Stop Press! Looks as if Februs will need to add some Virtual oakleaves and a bar to his Cybergong!!!!!!!
What a great job he did with the Comment Stats. In the words of Wayne's World "We're not Worthy"

Presumably everyone has been inspired by Rick's 'top of the list' story about Unappreciatve Readers

You know how much like to take credit, but alas, the data doesn't support it. There was no upward trend when my story was posted (besides the comments it generated for itself). It wasn't until the then-new 1 per 500 rule was announced several weeks later that the number of comments took off.

Now even rick can't complain.

i wouldn't say that. I most certainly CAN complain; I've just learned that it doesn't do much good (hear that, blimp ol' pal?)

You have to post one comment for every 500 stories you read. That is your comment to read ratio must be at least 1:500 or 0.2%.

It's a very high ratio, but sometimes you'll see people complaining about it.

Thanks Februs for yet another wonderful piece of technical wizardry!

Yes, thanks, but it's not mainly the technical solution I salute for! To extend the list to 300 items and hide it away from the first stats page will hopefully modify the perceived relevance of the sheer amount of comments on a single story.

Februs---great going, my man. All of us authors who have these gems tucked away in the archives, far away from the front page, salute you. While lots of comments don't necessarily make a story great, they are a good indication and a valuable clue for readers. So here's to the "top 300".

I agree with Sebastian. 0.2% seems terribly low. And maybe it was a lot less before that rule was implemented. I have to admit I'm stumped as to why some readers, who obviously like what they are reading--- because they devour one story after another(you can actually see this happen if you page through "latest read")---and never say a word to the author.
