As for myself, I have never given race, color, ethnic background much thought while reading a story but in agreement with one of the other posters on this topic, when a story does describe a specific setting, place , names of characters, this can allow a strong suggestion as to the race, ethnic background, and of course color of the characters involved. For me, if I don't see anything that would point in a different direction, I just assume white. Not that it really matters. |
